Too many links, and it seems like your content relies too heavily on outside content; too few links, and some readers may question where you’re getting your information. There was a time when SEO really was a matter of determining which keywords could deliver the most traffic, then optimizing your website for those terms, and then building as many links as you could get away with. Use long tail keywords that are very specific to your business to target a particular audience. These phrases epitomize the true essence of your business without coinciding with other related companies. They also provide you with a chance to score high on a search query most pertinent to your products or services. Your website must be set up to track the sources of conversions accurately; otherwise, you won't know which search engines produce the most leads—and you won't be able to continuously improve your SEO campaign. Build backlinks based on semantic keywords. Eg: If your core keyword is “online clothing”, try to build backlinks on related words like men’s clothing, ladies clothing, clothes in India and so on. Let’s not forget the speed of your site, not just because we all browse the web a lot more on our mobile devices, over not-so-broadband networks, but also because a fast site makes Google and in most cases your conversion rate happier.

Every search engine gives different weights to these ranking factors which is why when you enter the same search term in different search engines you will generally get different results. Focus on keywords that have higher search volume but don’t neglect long tail keywords. If optimized right, you can get more traffic from keywords with less search volume. Essentially, the higher CTR you have, and the more user experience your site receives, the higher the Google rankings. By following this advice, you will save a lot of hard work and time creating high quality content for poor quality sites.
